Idaho Area Recreation Properties Glossary of Terms

Home
Amenity
An amenity is a feature of the campsite or campground. Some examples are firepits, flush toilets, potable water, and picnic tables. See the property information pages for details on the amenities available at different campgrounds. Some camps are relatively primitive, while others have many amenities.
Camp
We use the term camp to mean a single recreation property. Most of the Utah North Area recreation properties are also called camps, though the Mantua Girls Home, for example, is more like a lodge.
Campground
A campground is a subdivision of a camp. Each property has one or more campgrounds. Generally, multiple campgrounds are physically separated from each other and can be reserved independently.
Campsite
A campsite is a subdivision of a campground. Each campground has one or more campsites within it. A campsite is the smallest unit you can reserve. The campsites within a campground will typically be close to one another.
Facility
A facility is a shared facility (such as an amphitheater, lodge, or swimming pool) available at the property. When you reserve a campsite or campground, the reservation includes amenities associated with the campground, but shared facilities need to be scheduled separately. Please contact the property manager directly to arrange for the use of shared facilities. Also, note that use of facilities may include an additional fee.
