Camp Piuta
About Piuta

Camp Piuta is located in the Soapstone Basin of the Wasatch National Forest, about 20 miles east of Kamas, Utah. Its location in the Uintah Mountains among a stand of mature pine trees, at an elevation of 8,900 feet, make it a delightful site during the summer months. The camp is used for about ten weeks each summer, primarily as a camp for Young Women. Camp Piuta is used under a special use permit issued by the Forest Service to 12 LDS Stakes in the South Davis County area. Because it is located within a National Forest, all visitors must observe Forest Service rules that serve to preserve this pristine land, and enhance the experience of everyone who visits the area. Structures within the camp include a lodge, 15 cabins (one of which has been converted for use by the Camp Managers), three bathhouses, and an amphitheater. The camp is supplied with water from a nearby spring, provided through an underground system to the lodge, bathhouses, and faucets near the cabins. Propane powered water heaters provide hot water to the lodge and bathhouses. The total sleeping capacity of the lodge and cabins is approximately 200 people. Each of the 14 available cabins contains 14 bunks. The camp is classified as a single campground, although several individual campsites or camping areas can be designated.
