The Utah Salt Lake Area Recreation Properties are camp facilities developed for use by Church youth and families. They provide a location where the Young Women Camp Program can be implemented. They also provide a setting where Young Women, Young Men and families can enjoy outdoor experiences "away from the world" in which the Holy Ghost can be heard and felt so that each can come to know he or she is a child of God.

This document is intended to define the administrative functions, guidelines, and procedures that have been established for use and management of the camps. It is within this framework that stakes, wards and families create and carry out their programs applying principles of the Gospel in a camp setting. Guidelines and procedures may change from time to time as the camps are used and mature.

1. Generally Camps are not to be used on Sunday unless approved by the Host Stake President and the person responsible for scheduling the camp.
2. The First Presidency have given permission for recreation property use for Young Women Camps on Mondays with the approval of a member of the user's Stake Presidency.
3. Even though the web site generally lets groups schedule any open campsite (subject to priority levels), local property schedulers have the right to move groups to other campsites within the same property that are more appropriate for the group size. This is to encourage efficient use of recreation properties.
4. When stake or ward Young Women Camps are in progress no other groups with male attendees are to be scheduled into the camp at the same time unless there is ample space to keep the two groups separate. Local Priesthood leaders will make the final decision.
5. Stake Young Women Camps from assigned camps in the Utah Salt Lake City Area will have the first priority in scheduling a camp for each new scheduling year. Stake Young Women Camps from unassigned stakes within the Utah Salt Lake City Area will have the second priority. Ward Young Women camps from the assigned stakes within the Utah Salt Lake City Area will have third priority, and ward Young Women from unassigned stakes within the Utah Salt Lake City will have fourth priority. Stake Youth conferences within the Utah Salt Lake City Area will be given next priority prior to opening to all others in or out of the Utah Salt Lake City Area. The exact dates available for scheduling by Young Women Leaders will be published on the web site.
6. For the purpose of definition: a Young Women's Camp includes any group of young women with adult leaders that use a camp overnight.
7. Church policy suggests that where feasible Church Service Missionaries be used to care and manage the campgrounds rather than full or part-time employees.
8. Young Women Camps are to run Monday or Tuesday through Friday unless local priesthood leaders desire a shorter time frame. Check out time is to be no later than noon of the last day. Camps can then schedule other groups and activities for families as they see fit to fill remaining times in a given week. Camp usage will be available Monday through Saturday. Many camps will open earlier in the spring and stay open longer in the fall. Check the individual sites for exact dates. Local Priesthood leaders will make the final decision as to opening and closing dates.
9. Ward and Stake Young Women leaders are encouraged to reserve their desired camps prior to the end of priority period listed on the home page. After that time the scheduling will be opened to all other groups.
10. All Recreation Properties including camps are now insured under the self-insured programs of the Church. This includes both property and liability insurance coverage. You may cancel any insurance policies you now have on our camps.
11. Limited Church funds are available each year for camp capital improvements projects. Maintaining existing facilities is the responsibility of assigned stakes using fees collected from user groups and families. Requests for capital improvements are to be made by the agent stake president in written form with the required request form attached, and forwarded to church headquarters each year for approval.
12. Stakes acting as camp agent stakes should rotate this responsibility with other assigned stakes, not earlier than every 3 years. The new agent stake should work together with the outgoing agent stake for the last 12 months to assure proper training in camp operation and continuity in camp improvement and maintenance projects.
13. Each camp agent stake should include in the camp organization a Webmaster who can both populate and maintain the new web site.
14. Stake Presidents and Bishops should make every effort to encourage their organizations and families to use the mountain recreation camps in the Utah Salt Lake City Area. By so doing we can help generate the funds necessary to maintain these wonderful facilities.
15. Each Scouting unit or group that attends a camp should have in its possession a valid tour permit issued by their local BSA office.

1. Please do not pick the wild flowers. Leave them for others to enjoy.
2. Numerous hiking trails are available. For your safety, please do not hike without the consent of the camp host. Always hike with another person - use the "buddy system." DO NOT hike off the groomed trails or cross-country.

1. Dress and grooming should be modest, tasteful, and conform with LDS Church standards.
2. For your safety, it is recommended that only closed-toe shoes be worn.
3. For your safety, it is recommended that long pants and long-sleeved shirts be worn to protect from mosquitoes and other insects, especially when hiking. Wear insect repellent.

1. There may or may not be firewood at the campsite. Check with the camp manager or just bring your own firewood.
2. Campfires may be built in provided campfire rings ONLY.
3. Fires must be attended at all times. Make sure fire is completely out before leaving.

1. Non-Church groups who wish to use Utah Salt Lake City Area recreation properties must fill out and sign the Hold Harmless form (found under Forms and Documents). Church entities (wards, stakes, etc.) do NOT need to fill out this form.
2. In the event of a family reunion, only one Hold Harmless form is required from the person responsible for the group.
3. In the event of a family reunion, the "liability insurance company" should be the company providing the homeowner's insurance and the "policy number" should be the homeowner's policy number.
4. Any organization that is using our facilities, i.e., other denomination church groups, civic groups, etc. must follow the more rigorous requirements of: 1) the Hold Harmless agreement, 2) certificate of insurance and 3) additional endorsement.
